here is a question. If this is deployed to a user with an administrator account. Can disablement via registry or disabling it from system services be prevented? I know that uninstall is prevented via a password, but what about a person with an admin account who can access the registry and change the system services? Anyway to prevent this? Using a server for group policy is not an option either...

MyUSBOnly does not work with SanDisk U3 encrypted disk. When I plug in SanDisk U3 flashdisk, MyUSBOnly prompts to 'allow' two disks. I enter the password and see both disks are in the whitelist. 'My computer' then show 2 disk drives (it should be one only without using MyUSBOnly). When I run the launchpad program, it always shows in init. stage and doesn't prompt me the password for the encrypted drive.

How can I make it work ? Thanks.

IT seems that if user has normal user rights the program sees two different serial numbers for the device.
For example:

When the Kingston Data Traveler locker is inserted it shows serial number 007136786907 and all devices have been whitelisted with this serial number.
After pressing Release For Autentication and launching the DTencryptor.exe program from the storage device the serail number changes, It starts with 7_6D3A857_0_007136786907 and the program blocks this device.
All of our devices are Kingston Data Traveler.
Does this mean that We have to whitelist all of them twice for normal users?

With Administrator rights there is no problem the serial number is the same before and after starting the DTencryptor.exe

Tested with
OS Win XP SP3
MyUSB 5.7, 5.8, 5.9

Also, does you product protect from an intruder who has logged into Safe Mode and transferring via usb as well?

Hi,

I have purchased MyUSBOnly a few weeks ago and noticed there is a new version now. How do I go about upgrading to the newer version without locking my activation keys?

I mean do I simply uninstall the program on the existing computers (I have a three user key) then go and download the newer program and install again without problems?

The reason I'm asking is because when I first purcahsed and installed on one of my new computers without much problems. I continued to install other software on the new computer but then it became unstable and I had to reformat during which point it wouldn't allow me to install again saying I had used all my keys.

I did send a request to your technical support and believe the issue has been resolved (haven't had time to reinstall yet) but I don't want to go and uninstall to try and get the lastest version only to find I've locked myself out.

Is there a place where I can find detailed install/upgrade instructions?

Thanks.

If the hard disk is reformatted and the software is reinstalled, reactivation will be required.

For version 5.6 or later:
If you want to reinstall your Windows, you can backup the key.bin file for later restore.
Windows 2000/XP key.bin location: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MyUSBOnly\key.bin
Windows Vista key.bin location: C:\ProgramData\MyUSBOnly\key.bin

For version 5.6 or later, if your computer hardward (Computer Mainboard) was changed, you should re-activate the MyUSBOnly via internet.

The same grace periods for activation apply in this situation. You may need to contact our support team before you can reactivation on the same PC. The activation can be completed via Internet website.
Why MyUSBOnly needs Activation?
Product Activation is an anti-piracy technology designed to verify that the product has been legitimately licensed.

Businesses and other customers that need to acquire multiple licenses for an organization should contact MyUSBOnly support team regarding eligibility for purchasing licenses through one of MyUSBOnly volume licensing programs.
Consumers should refer to the terms of their license agreement to determine whether or not it is legal to transfer a license to another computer. If the same version of the software is reinstalled on the same machine and the hard disk is not reformatted prior to reinstalling, the software will remain activated. Reactivation will be required if the hard disk is reformatted and the software is reinstalled. This is because the software's activation status is stored on the hard drive and reformatting the hard drive erases that status.
After installing the MyUSBOnly Free 1.9 version, I created a whitelist authorizing my USB drives. But I forgot my password. Now I'm not able to use others' USB drives nor uninstall the software. Please help!

On question, though. How do you discriminate between a legitimate request for password reset from a malicious one without having to register the users of the free version?

Deploy Configuration for the first time or on-going update the config file

There are two ways to deploy (install) MyUSBOnly and update configuration file to all your remote computers.

(a) By using Admin Kit to broadcast the configuration to all your computers.
Pros You don’t need a Windows Server or Windows AD Server.
You can assign IP range for broadcast the configuration
Cons Cannot perform first time deployment (Installation)
Cannot update configuration if remote computer is power off
Can only change main settings (i.e. password, whitelist) in remote computer

(b) By using Windows Logon/Start Script to perform installation and update.
Pros Can perform first time deployment (Installation)
Can change all settings in remote computer
Cons You need a Windows Server or Windows AD Server

If you are not sure which one is appropriate, choose (b) if you have Windows AD Server and choose (a) if you do not have Windows AD Server.

See Example AD Script
